March Madness: Sweet Sixteen Edition

Were you one of those people who went to bed assuming that Gonzaga had coasted to victory? Thank god, UCLA saved my bracket from being a complete disaster (at least for one more round).

Besides the fact that they choked away a big lead in the last few minutes, I was really disappointed by Gonzaga. They gave up with 3 seconds left on the clock. Adam Morrison was crying like the game was over even though they only trailed by 1 and UCLA was going to the free throw line with time still on the clock. And Gonzaga's coach, Mark Few, really dropped the ball at the end there. There's 1.5 seconds left, Gonzaga has the ball on the opposite baseline, and Morrison is in the backcourt flashing TOWARD the ball? How do you not have the NCAA's leading scorer in the position to catch and shoot on the other end of the court? Isn't hitting a tough shot in traffic supposed to be Morrison's forte? I just don't understand that.

Oh well. What a great night of college basketball. A buzzer-beater by Texas, a huge come-back by UCLA, and LSU knocking off the top overall seed (finally, a prediction I actually got right). It was almost good enough to make up for the fact that Winthrop dropped that heartbreaker to Tennessee. Seriously, I was more distraught over that game than any other game so far.
